Using Microsoft Money

If you have a First Tech Visa and use Microsoft® Money, we’re making some changes that affect the way your Visa loan is displayed in Online Banking. It used to display asterisks and the last four digits of the card number. That has been replaced with the account number. If more than one card has been issued for the same account, they are currently displayed as if they are separate accounts. With this improvement they will display as a single account. Click here to see instructions on how to make the necessary changes on your end.

What do I need in order to use Microsoft Money?
Internet access is required for all online features. Money includes all necessary software. You also need an Online Banking User Name and a Password. If you already use Online Banking or Quicken use the same information you've been using.

If you do not have a Username and Password, to get started call us at 800.637.0852 during normal business hours (M - F 7:00am - 8:00pm and Sat. 10:00am - 2:00pm). After you answer a few questions, we’ll have you set up and on your way.

What versions of Microsoft Money does First Tech support?
The Online Banking interface has been certified for Microsoft Money 2005 and above. Earlier versions of Money are not supported. You may be able to import transactions into earlier versions of MS Money by using the QIF file download feature within Online Banking.

Technical support
As of September 1, 2008, Microsoft will no longer provide technical support for MS Money versions 2006 and older. If you use one of these versions, it is recommended you upgrade to a newer version. For additional information regarding the expiration date for your specific version view Help > About Microsoft Money from within your software.

How are my financial transactions protected?
First Tech Credit Union and Microsoft Corporation are committed to maintaining the highest level of security for all transactions submitted using Microsoft Money and the Internet.

Security of Internet Transactions consists of:

  • Encryption of transactions by the software and Internet browser
  • Use of passwords

Microsoft and First Tech require that your browser supports domestic level encryption. It is your responsibility to protect your password.

How do I get started?
Follow the installation instructions. The first time you run the program, you will be prompted to take a tour of the program's features. The tour is well worth your time - learn the basics of MS Money and how it can help you manage your finances. After the tour, proceed to set up your accounts.
